Some Much Needed R&R

Last Friday Brian and I left for Mexico. With all of the moving, having babies, being away from family, etc..it's been very hard to get away. We slipped away a couple years ago for two weddings. However, those were very quick trips. So, this is really our first trip away from kids in about 5 1/2 years (before Ella was born). Four nights away with no schedule at all. We went to Excellence Playa Mujeres. It is just north of Cancun and recommended by several friends that have been there.

The trip was nicknamed a sort of 'Comedy of Errors' at some point by Brian, but we still had an absolutely amazing time. Some things that happened that we can laugh at now...
     - While unloading the luggage at the Houston airport, Brian fried his calf against the tailpipe of his car.
     - We got to Cancun and Continental had no clue where one of our bags was. Of course, it happened to be the bag with all of my swimsuits in there. The next morning they still had no idea where it was. So, we went ahead and went into Cancun to shop. I really did not want to do this the whole trip, but it ended up being fun. We got to the city before the mall was open. So, the taxi driver brought us to the flea market to look around. Normally, Brian's negotiating EVERYTHING skills drives me crazy. However, they were awesome here. He did very well. We bought an adorable dress for Ella, a cover-up for me and a cute soap dispenser. Some of my favorite lines from the flea market...."Come in everything is 20% off today".... "Everything is almost free today, come in.".... "This is a deal. I will even give a free plastic bag." After shopping, we got back to the hotel around noon. Then, we swam for a couple of hours and got back to our room. What was sitting on the floor? The stupid bag. Thank goodness the shopping trip was fun. Otherwise, I would have been very annoyed to spend a morning doing that.
     - Then, we got sick. I got way too sunburned the first day. I woke up in the middle of the night with an awful sore throat and felt sick from the burn. Luckily, the burn got better over the next couple of days. But, Brian and I got an awful cold. Will had it just before we left, and we are pretty sure we caught it from him. We just had to laugh. Finally away from the germ filled kids, and they still get you!

Even with all of that, we had a fabulous time. We are so glad we went and can't even begin to thank Mamaw enough for coming and staying with the kids!

The room and the pool right outside our room....

Brian absolutely loved this piece of furniture. The naps...
